Do you want to make a difference in the lives of those in need in Franklin County, Ohio? There are many organizations that provide community services and are in need of donations. From providing mental health counseling to delivering beds for children, these organizations are making a positive impact on the lives of those in the area. Theresa Flores founded an initiative to help trafficking survivors recover and heal with retreats, emergency and mental health services, and basic needs. Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Starbucks, Fresh Thyme, Gordon Foods, Bob Evans, and City Barbeque have all generously donated fresh and prepared foods.

Community churches and partner service organizations have also contributed financially. The Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) organization uses volunteers to build, deliver and assemble new beds for children in need throughout Franklin County. The beds include a mattress, sheets, pillows, and blankets. Youth Advocate Services (YAS) is a nonprofit agency in Columbus that provides foster care, adoption services, Help Me Grow, and mental health counseling services at home and at school.

The Columbus Foundation awarded YAS this year for their important role in providing stability and opportunities to youth, families and neighborhoods. Directions for Youth & Families is another organization that works to promote physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual health and well-being of the community. They provide nutritional, educational, and resource services to individuals and families in the Worthington area. All Star House focuses on creating healthy relationships with young people to establish satisfactory links with education, housing, basic health, mental stability, professional development and happiness.

Donations will be used to purchase materials to build, deliver and assemble new beds for children in need in Franklin County. Mental health is an important part of overall health and Jewish Family Services offers vital services. The Franklin County Chamber of Human Services has compiled a spreadsheet with its members' Christmas events that will be updated until the end of the year as more initiatives are announced.
